To compliment our superb James Brown Soul Classics Vols 1 & 2, we decided to continue passing the funk flavour around by re-issuing two superb compilations of James Brown affiliated productions which were issued in the mid 80’s and have been long since deleted but heavily in demand ever since! Welcome to James Brown’s Funky People Vol 1. This brilliant series highlights the best of the various musicians and artists who worked with Mr Superbad himself. Artists like the awe-inspiring JB’s, whose Gimme Some More (No.11 RnB, No.67 Pop US), Pass The Peas (No.29 RnB, No.95 Pop US), Givin’ Up Food For Funk, Hot Pants Road and Damn Right, I Am Somebody pretty much laid the boilerplate for funk in the early 70’s.
