A one-off recording for the Colpix label in 1963, this set by Mr. Five-By-Five further demonstrates the man could swing and sell a ballad, all with the same conviction and style. A veteran of the Blue Devils, Benny Moten's band and the early Count Basie ensembles, he became along with Big Joe Turner, one of the top blues shouters in the Kansas City mode. As with most of the now-collectable Colpix/Colgems recordings of the 1960s, the sound on this Rushing set is incredible, having been transferred directly from the original 3 track masters.
