This LP finds bassist Charles Mingus leading two overlapping but different nine and ten piece groups. Much of the music was written for soundtracks of the time but they easily stand out on their own with fine solos from trombonist Jimmy Knepper, Booker Ervin on tenor, altoist John Handy and pianist Roland Hanna uplifting such songs as Slop, Song with Orange, Far Wells, Mill Valley and two Duke Ellington-associated numbers.
