Ravel's Boléro is easily the composer's most famous work which also contains the longest sustained single crescendo anywhere in the orchestral repertory. The work was originally commissioned by dancer Ida Rubinstein in 1928 who specifically requested a work with Spanish character. At the time, it never occurred to Ravel this might become a popular work and two years later the composer crafted a new version for two pianos.

The work's premiere was so enthusiastically received that the audience shouted for the encore of the final scene. A simple piece of music - at least on the surface - MSO under conductor Charles Dutoit recreates what remains one of the most dynamic recordings ever put to vinyl. First-time release on 180 gram high-quality virgin vinyl.
